Before you start playing slot machines, here are some helpful tips and pointers on how to play:

  • Playing more coins per spin, contrary to popular belief, does not better your odds. In fact, most slot machine gambling experts will advise you to play the lowest denomination you are comfortable with. Remember, the returns and frequency are the same no matter what or how much you play. This means that playing one coin will be as effective as playing multiple coins. Multiple coins only serve to increase the amount of your jackpot, which, as we all know, rarely occurs anyway. For this reason, playing the lowest coin amount possible will net similar results as playing with more coins per spin, while mitigating your total overall losses.

  • Slow down! Playing fast only serves to deplete your money more quickly- this is what is known in the gambling world as ”the grind”. The RNG generates new numbers so fast, that the results are the same no matter how much, or how little, time has passed between each new spin. So, relax and have fun with it. Playing fast slots defeats the purpose of playing on slot machines: entertainment!

  • You should understand that no machine is EVER ”due to hit”. Many people believe that, if a machine has not paid out recently, it must be due to hit. Conversely, they believe that a machine that has ”hit”, or paid a jackpot recently, is not likely to pay again soon. This is untrue in both cases. A random number generator produces odds that are the same every time, with every spin. If the odds of receiving a jackpot are 1 in 250,000, then those odds will remain in perpetuity. Each time you spin does not get you closer to a jackpot- the odds are 1 in 250,000 on the first spin, the second, the tenth, the hundredth, and so on. A machine is never due to payout- it could payout two large jackpots within a few minutes of each other, or it might not payout anything for a very long time. The odds are always the same. In fact, the odds are better to play state lotteries. With a state lottery, if the chances are 1 in 250,000, then by buying 15 tickets, your chances then become 15 in 250,000. This is not true with slot machines- the odds are an unchanging constant with each play.

  • Playing slots is more fun if you realize that there is no skill involved. Having hot coins, pulling the lever in a certain way or in a certain amount of time, or feeding the coins in really fast will not increase your chances in any way. Some machines may provide the illusion of skill, but in most cases, this is simply an attraction designed to fool you into believing that you can have a practical role in determining if and how much you win. Whether you pull a lever, push a button, a touch-screen, etcetera, the results will always be the same as determined by the RNG. Slots are 100% about luck, so if you keep that in mind, you’ll have a great time and be well-entertained by these ”one-armed bandits”.

  • Finally, under no circumstances should you buy a system for slot machines. While there are many ”experts” out there who will gladly sell you what they call a ”system” for beating and winning with slot machines, they are all false claims by unscrupulous charlatans. There is no mathematical formula, no observation system, no tricks or practices to gain an advantage- nothing. Slot machines are highly regulated. You cannot cheat them, rig them, fool them, or out-smart them. They are no different than the roll of a dice- the infinite variables are, oddly enough, known and constant.

  • Playing slots should be done for entertainment only. If you win some money- great! But be prepared to lose. Determine an amount that you are comfortable with losing for ”entertainment” purposes, and stop playing when you have lost that amount. Remember; playing slot machines is not a test of your skill or intelligence, it is merely a test of luck. And luck, as defined, is out of the control of anyone.
